If you've ever tried to create one of those beautiful chalkboard signs you've seen everywhere, I'm guessing, like me, you've tried lots of different ways to do it. From projecting an image onto a chalkboard (and how exactly do you get out of the way of the project light so you don't make a shadow), to creating a reverse image from a printer and tracing the image onto a wood surface, I've tried it all! I mean, I may not be a "born" artist, but I can follow directions. And, there's lots of how-to videos on Pinterest and Youtube... But, never had I found a tried and true way to create beautiful chalkboard signs... until now!
Just a few short months ago, I met up with a friend who was attending a 4 day scrapbooking event near me. We decided to get together for lunch and instead of leaving the venue, she asked me to join her to meet some of her fellow scrappers and see some of what she had been working on.
At the event was a designer from Chalk Couture - a company I had never heard of but quickly fell in love with! Chalk Couture offers a line of beautiful silkscreen transfers and a proprietary formula of chalkpastes that makes it possible to create incredible signs and other home decor items in just minutes.
And, the company is super smart - because they teach their designers that seeing is believing and encourage them to offer mini "make & take" projects to give people a chance to try it out. So, even if you think you don't have a crafty bone in your body, you'll quickly see that it is indeed as easy as pie!
Take a look at this short video on how to use Chalk Couture:
Of course, I caught the Chalk Couture fever, and boy, am I glad I did! I just returned from a gathering of fellow designers in Salt Lake City for the company's first ever convention. It was 3 days of fun, inspiration, meeting new friends and learning how Chalk Couture makes lives better. I am in awe of all the ways that designers support each other. And, I pledged right there and then, that I would do my part in sharing the "Chalk" love!
